Why is it beyond Obama's comprehension that Russia is in a political and military alliance with Iran?
Q. So why did Obama think that the Russians would be in favour of sanctions against their ally? Can Obama now comprehend that when he gave into the Russians on the E European missle shield, he is going to be getting absolutely nothing in return for this measure, absolutely nothing ever? It was a total stupid giveaway by O"Dumbo?

A. The Italo- German Entente of 1936 formed what was then called "a vertical line between Berlin- Rome. This line is not a partition but is rather an AXIS around which all European states can collaborate" However, this is not a military alliance, the Italo-German Military alliance was not signed until 1939 and was called the Pact of Steel. whale

In near future which nations (or alliance) could become potential military superpowers?
Q. the most common ones that everybody think of is probably US, europe, russia and asia. However, I wonder what nations or alliances everybody think could potentially be superpowers. Thanks!
Asked by Rock - Mon Oct 13 00:14:22 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. the EU could become a country easily making them a superpower, Russia is powerful but their power is based off oil, a resource that is very unreliable and doesn't last forever. China has great potential, but also India. Technically though they already are superpowers.

Asked by Henry L - Wed May 27 23:47:16 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. China has already said in session in the UN, that if North Korea attacks anyone, they are on their own - but if anyone attacks North Korea, China will come to North Korea's defense. I doubt that Russia will do anything but continue to supply arms and ammo, but I haven't heard about any promises of direct support or troops.

(10 ez points) The Franco-Russian Alliance Military Convention?
Q. The question is. What is the problem with signing treaties like this if you want to maintain peace?? Thank you very much, bearstirringfromcave, 10 ez points for YOU :)
Asked by freespirit - Sun Feb 3 23:27:02 2008 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Even though treaties appear to be mere pieces of paper with which one can wipe their nether regions people tend to treat treaties with undo respects. In respect to the Franco-Russian Military Convention it clearly said that either country was committed to coming to the aid of the other if either was one threatened with military aggression by Germany. This was a clear detriment to Peace since Russian and France bordered Germany, pretty much surrounding Germany and ANY action by Germany could be miscontrued as military aggression. (Example if a troop of German boy scouts in Silesia start a brush fire that sweeps over the border in Russia - - yikes - war!!)... Germany was bound to threaten one or the other and in reaction to the treaty… [cont.]

How do military alliances lead to a society's downfall?
Q. I'm currently doing a research project, and I need to write about how the Alliances in WWI, WWII and 1984 (the book) led to a Society's downfall. It's confusing, so any help is appreciated.
Asked by Nemo L - Mon Apr 14 11:14:25 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Your confusion is well founded, and I think the question itself contributes greatly to it. Alliances did not lead to "Society's downfall" Both wars resulted in winners and losers with all participants members of their respective alliances. Both times the Allied alliances prevailed, and the Germans lost. In WW 11 all members states in the Axis alliances lost. Allied societies did fine afterwords; the losers not so well, but were allowed to reform and reconstitute their national societies. Focus on the book, 1984.

Why doesn't God form a military alliance with a nation, like he did with Isreal?
Q. Deuteronomy 13:13-19 Judges 15:14-15 ...says the LORD. "I will send the sword to kill, the dogs to drag away, the vultures to devour, and the wild animals to finish up what is left. Because of the wicked things Manasseh son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, did in Jerusalem, I will make my people an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth." (Jeremiah 15:1-4 NLT) My angel will go before you and bring you to the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and Jebusites; and I will wipe them out. (Exodus 23:23 NAB) If he were going to, what nation or group of people would it be?

IS the increase of US Military deaths part of the Terrorrists/Democratic Party alliance to have Dems elected?
Q. Quick last minute dealth tolls in Iraq have to be as a result of Democratic and ACLU support of global terrorism. Probably as a result of the support for the Civil Rights of those "mistreadted" terrorrists jailed in Abu Gharaib and Guantanmo Bay. Let us not forget the support from Democrats for (which is now being investigated by the U S Justice department) terrorrists gun runner Florin Krisniqi and his donations to John Kerry and photos taken with Wesley Clarke at a Democratic Fund Raiser.

A. the allies actually didn't have that much success in WW2. we were pretty much losing the whole time. the thing that saved us was Hitler shooting himself in the foot. he had a treaty with Russia, but then he got too cocky and tried to invade. this huge blizzard came up, and a third of Hitler's army froze in Siberia. if anything could be said to contribute to our success, it was England sticking with us and us keeping troops/supplies going for five years. we simply outlasted them.

Q. such as NATO and the warsaw pact?
Asked by Nuttypigeon - Fri Feb 29 12:29:47 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. As you point out, NATO was the West's creation; Warsaw was Moscow's. Warsaw Pact was not voluntary, Nato was. With Turkey a NATO member, the West had positions both west and south of the USSR, The US entered post-war into more military alliances than ever before in its history; Cento for the Middle East, with the Brits serving as the major power in the Middle East. Australia-New Zealand,- and US for a time. Seato for Southeast Asia. Plus a bilateral treaty with Japan that has endured, and subsequently a treaty with South Korea. With Taiwan there has been an "understanding" and some legislation in support of US support. In the 60s with both France and Britain having nuclear weapons, the French withdrew from formal participation in Nato… [cont.]

Is there a possible Military/Economic alliance between the US and China?
Q. Now with the Obama Administration making changes in US policy, can we see a Big Brother- Little Brother relationship between the United States of America and the People's Republic of China? No disrespect Bamford1000, but in my opinion, just because you have a military alliance with one country. it doesnt mean you can't have one with another. China and the USA are the most important economic powers for the moment in my opinion, so i want to know can both countries become strong allies. So Bamford1000, you are trying to say that China is protesting due to weapons trade to Taiwan, which is causing somewhat tension to both countries?
Asked by Jose M - Tue Jun 23 12:15:24 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. China is already in a military alliance with Russia, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). as for US and Chinese relations, there are a number of stumbling blocks, namely Taiwan which China believes to be it's territory, whilst the US has pledged to defend Taiwan's Independence. At the same time recent cyber attacks by the Chinese on US Computer Networks has cooled relations between the two nations and led the US to set up a new Cyber Security Agency. Finally the fact that both China and the US are polar opposites in terms of democracy and liberty, means that any relationship between the two nations will always be strained. China being a communist country with no democratic process and an appauling human rights… [cont.]
