Why did the LTTE assassinate Rajiv Gandhi ? Was it really the LTTE?
Q. I mean, LTTE is made up of Tamil people fighting the organized discrimination they face in Sri Lanka by the Singhalese. What I cannot understand is why they would kill an Indian prime minister, since the tamil people come from India (Tamil Nadu). I have tried finding answers but there is so much confusion. Can someone please shed some light on this ? Thanks. God bless.

A. India made the mistake of getting involved in Srilankan affairs. You see, there is some affinity for the Tamils in Sri Lanka because they are originally from our country. So there was pressure on the government to intervene. We sent our troops into Sri Lanka to help sort out the problem between the LTTE and the Sinhalese. Big mistake. They were on unfamiliar ground and suffered so badly that they had to be withdrawn back home. In revenge for the interference, the LTTE had Rajiv Gandhi assassinated. We lost a good prime minister.
