As long as I have been involved with this sport, a trainer must take the test, and pass it to be eligible for a trainers license. If you have been an asistant for nine years, you should be familiar with the test as you also have to have a license to be an assistant trainer. If you are skepticle about taking the test, get with the trainer you are assisting and ask for some pointers that you may not be aware of. No state that I am aware of Grandfathers anyone into a trainers license just by owning a race horse. Good luck to you.
